No-Limit Texas Hold’em

No-Limit Texas Hold’em is a type of poker variant in which an individual can raise or bet up to any amount player wants to. There is no limit on the amount of betting. The minimum bet must be equal to the size of the former bet. Also, if any individual wants to re-raise the bet size, then they can but the only condition is player’s bet size must be at least the size of their previous bet size.

How to play No-Limit Texas Hold’em

Initially, all the players on the table are dealt with two cards faced down known as Hole cards. The player should aim to form the best combination using these cards. Texas Hold’em is a community card game wherein five cards are displayed at the middle of the table which players can use with their two-hole cards to make the best five-card holding.

The five community cards are shown at the middle of the table in three different betting rounds known as the flop, the turn, and the river. The flop comprises of the first three community cards, the fourth community card is put forth in the turn round, and the river is used for displaying the last community card. These five cards are visible to every player. Once all five cards are shown, players must aim at making the best five-card combination from these seven cards. The player with the best combination of cards wins the pot, which consists of all the bets placed by players on the table.

First Betting Round

The first betting round occurs after two-hole cards are dealt to every player on the table. The player who is standing at the left of the dealer the first one to bet & is known as Small Blind and this player has three options: call, raise and fold. If the player opts for the folding option, then it means the player has quitted. The individual to Small Blind’s immediate next is known as the Big Blind & this player is supposed to increase or match the bet made by small blind.

Second Betting Round

The second betting round takes place after the first preflop betting round has been completed and the three community cards have been dealt. Besides, call, fold and raise, the player has an option to check (only if no bet has been made yet in the round). A check means the player is passing the action to the next player.

Third Betting Round

The third betting round takes place after the fourth community card, the turn is dealt to players, and all betting actions regarding this is completed. Same like previous betting rounds, the player has the options to bet, call, fold, raise and check.

Final Betting Round

The Final Betting Round takes place after the fifth community card, the river is death and is kept visible to the players. Here, also the player has the options to bet, call, fold, raise and check like previous ones.

After all these betting rounds, the player has to compare hand strengths to identify the winner. And this is called a showdown. The player with the best combination of cards is declared the winner of the game.
